Program Description
GEAR UP (Gaining Employment Awareness and Readiness Program) is the students’ preparation for the Work Immersion Program. Activities, participated by all Grade 11 students, are focused on skills and conduct that FIRST College students need to be prepared for early work experiences such as:
- Time Management
- Professional Orientation
- Team Work Ethic
- Communication
- Problem-Solving
- Initiative and Self-Direction
- Level 1: Readiness wherein the topics revolve around Basic Work Skills and Career Goals.
- Level 2: Skills in which the activities include workshops on Building Portfolios and Development of Technical and Life Skills.
- Level 3: Success Series which is to be led by alumni and industry professionals. Students are introduced to various career paths through Employment Conference and reflective activities on Building Post-Senior High School Plan.
