Introduction

The Senior High School program of FIRST College prepares the students to be equipped with the needed skills and knowledge to be ready for work right after graduation. This bridges the job-skills mismatch that has left many of our country's young graduates unemployed despite the continued growth of the economy, especially in the manufacturing industry.

In Grade 11, the students are prepared to transition from students to workplace contributors through in-class learning where they gain basic knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to jumpstart their careers in the manufacturing industry. During the pandemic, the school transitioned to 100% digital learning. Recognizing the importance of hands-on activities to effectively deliver technical-vocational curricula, FIRST College is adapting the Hyflex Adaptive Learning.

12

In Grade 12, students are immersed in multinational manufacturing companies in the First Philippine Industrial Park (FPIP) and other industrial parks such as Carmelray, Light Industry and Science Park (LISP), and First Cavite Industrial Estate (FCIE). The immersive and progressive training at the workplace for one school year enables the students to apply and practice what they have learned in the actual work setting. In addition, they get to meet industry professionals who have pursued the same career path and learn from their experience.

Specializations
Electrical Installation & Maintenance (EIM)

Electrical Installation and Maintenance prepare the students with knowledge and manipulative skills for employment in the electrical industry. This specialization combines theories and principles with laboratory activities as an effective means of developing the skills essential to the electrical sector.

The students are introduced to the fundamentals of electricity and residential wiring of simple circuits. They then progress to installing and maintaining electrical wiring, single-phase alternating current power, and wiring of simple to relatively complex circuits and equipment. An integral part of each hands-on activity is safety. Lighting and related equipment and systems such as Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) and Fire Detection Alarm System (FDAS) are also covered.

Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing (EPAS)

Electronic Products Assembly and Servicing offers a background in assembling, disassembling and troubleshooting consumer electronic products, preparing printed circuit board modules and installing industrial electronic products. Servicing consumer and industrial electronic products and systems are also covered.

Mechatronics Servicing (MS)

Mechatronics Servicing provides the students background in installing, configuring and testing mechatronics and automation devices such as electro-pneumatics and Programmable Logic Circuit (PLC) systems. Some of the core competencies acquired in this specialization include Planning and Preparing Mechatronics and Automation devices. Robotics, control systems, and electro-mechanical systems are learned through work-based set-up.

The skill sets developed through MS specialization are needed in the contemporary, advanced automated manufacturing industry. At the intersection of mechanics, electronics, and computing, this specialization is an essential foundation for the expected growth in automation and manufacturing.

Learning Approach

FIRST College is committed to the success of our students of our students by elevating their learning experience through skills-based assessment, project-based learning, and personalized instruction through technology.

Its curriculum, which is Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Industry-relevant, Information age enabled, and Innovative, blends theoretical learning from synchronous and asynchronous sessions and practical instruction from workshops, laboratories, and work-based training.

The transition to digital learning during the pandemic has helped the school not just as mitigating steps against the risk posed by COVID-19 but in implementing curriculum transformation towards a customer-centered, outcome-based, and holistic learning paradigm, putting forward a long-term vision for the way ahead for our digital education.
