Train our skilled and hardworking students for 10 months

coLAB Work Immersion Program

The coLAB is a learning opportunity which enables the students to have actual, direct and guided real-time workplace experience in their field of specialization through collaboration with different companies in the manufacturing industry.

FIRST College SHS students finish classroom-based subjects in Grade 11 and undergo 8-hours of work-based training daily for 10 months with a locator partner in Grade 12.

It enables the SHS students to hone the necessary industry-specific skills and to upgrade existing competencies, thereby producing skilled graduates that are readily employable by the companies after graduation.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

In the 10-month work immersion of our G12 students, they create special projects to add value in their work training experience. These projects include topics on continuous improvement, process improvement, improving work efficiency, and cost saving measures. We work closely with our locator partners in completing these projects as part of their G12 requirement.

FIRST College was able to deploy close to 500 SHS G12 students with different partner locators in the coLAB work immersion program in the last 3 years. Our students learn real skills and real-life learning in our partnership with the industry.

We have partnered with 30 different companies in providing opportunities for real-life work experience covering various industries such as Electrical, Electronics, Automotive, Industrial, Biotechnology, and Food & Beverage.
